Because of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and last minute change to our programme there were fewer readers at the Manuscript Evening. We therefore returned to our previous style and read aloud to everyone. Eight members read varied pieces from poems, short stories and an article to the beginning of a novel, altogether an entertaining evening with helpful suggestions and praise given in equal measure.

Manuscript Evening
The new arrangement for the manuscript evening was tested last night (15 November 2011) in the Sexton room at the Assembly House. Members and visitors were divided into small groups so that more people were able to read their work and discuss each others writing. It was agreed that the time flew by as it was so enjoyable and we actually over ran the intended allocated time limit.

Open Reminder
Our 2011/2012 programme, which begins with an Open Evening, is now only a week away.
Entry to the 7.30pm meeting, to be held in The Assembly House's Sexton Room, on Tuesday 20th is free. This meeting gives an opportunity for the Circle to introduce itself, and to hear a selection of both members and visitors work read aloud.
We recommend that any manuscripts featured next week are no longer than 500 words and/or 10 minutes in length.
Everyone is more than welcome to our friendly writing group - reading aloud is not compulsory.
For more information of this year's upcoming meetings, including visiting writers and more, please visit norwichwriters.org.uk.

Rural Read
Congratulations to long-term Norwich Writer's Circle member Vera Clouting who has had a short article published in the May 2011 edition of The Countryman magazine.
We were luck enough to listen to the article at our recent Manuscript Evening where it proved to be a popular read.
