Anne Funnell gave a comprehensive talk on how to organise and keep track of essential information when writing long fiction. She stressed the importance of keeping characters, places, times and other data, in order and easily accessible, to avoid mistakes.
Paul Taylor gave a vote of thanks for the helpful demonstrations commenting that they will be invaluable to anyone embarking on creating a complicated piece of work.

The Reckoning

Congratulations to Norwich Writers' Circle committee member Victoria Bartlett, who has recently finished drafting her latest novel, The Elchilda's Reckoning.

Victoria's latest is a science fiction novel is a sequel to The Return Of A Dark Lord, which we have been lucky enough to hear extracts from in our regular Manuscript Evenings.

We look forward to hearing more extracts in the coming months.

Lucy McCarraher Adjudication

Tonight saw Lucy McCarraher return to Norwich Writers' Circle once more, this time to adjudicate our Novel Outline Competition.

The competition was set by the author and tutor when she last visited us in November 2010.

Lucy commended all 10 competition entries, commenting on the eclectic nature and wide-ranging stories entered.

Following a short adjudication, we were given a chance to hear the winning competition entries, plus a few addition ones.

The winning entries were:

On Your Toes!

Congratulations to Norwich Writers' Circle member Anne Sanderson who has completed a 50,000 word within a month.

Anne, who heard about the NaNaWriMo event via this Blog and our Twitter account, completed a book called On Your Toes!, which is best described as a time travelling tale about ballet.

This Writers' Circle member really enjoyed her experience, and at the same time, recommended it to others within our popular writing group to take this opportunity up next year.

Debut Dagger

The Crime Writers Association has launched its Debut Dagger competition, which closes on 5th February 2011.

To enter this competition, which is open to unpublished authors, you need to write the first 3,000 words of a crime novel, along with a 500 to 1,000 synopsis.
